Occasionally we come across an item a little outside our usual fare but so impressive that we want to share our great find with all of you! This is one of those products. By now most of us know that adding green tea to our daily regimen is incredibly beneficial, as it’s full of antioxidant power important to our health and well being.
Although we know green tea is good for us, many of us are not ‘tea people’ or else find green tea to have a slightly bitter taste—And so comes Edible Green to the rescue! Not only does Edible Green have a mild, rich taste that goes down smoothly, but because it’s a finely ground green tea powder made from the whole leaf, you’ll naturally reap the increased benefits of more antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are inherent in the whole tea leaf. A good percent of these healthful substances are usually tossed away along with your tea bag. Edible Green retains 100% of the antioxidants, and 70% more vitamins and minerals normally lost when consuming steeped or brewed green tea.
Made of 100% pure and mild-tasting Japanese Sencha green tea leaves, which is higher in catechins but much lower in caffeine than its cousin Matcha—and it’s ground to a very fine powder that easily mixes in hot or cold water. No tea bags or brewing time needed, just a quick stir (or shake in your bottled water!) and the result is a mild, smooth, and tasty drink that’s healthy and satisfying. It can be lightly sweetened if desired, but many prefer the taste just as it is. For a healthy boost at meals or snacktime, Edible Green can also be sprinkled on salads, baked potatoes, popcorn, or any food of your choice.
Like milk in your tea? Although green tea is always a delight to drink, scientific studies show that when green tea is consumed with milk, the milk protein binds with the catechin molecules and make the antioxidants unavailable for the human body. Since plant protein does not cause this same effect, we recommend rice, almond, or other plant-based milks as the most beneficial choices for use with green tea.
Edible Green® Ground Green Tea is made using only antioxidant-rich, high quality Japanese Sencha, ground to the finest powder. It’s 100% natural—no added chemicals or preservatives. Grown exclusively by certified farmers and processed by certified experts, Edible Green is certified organic by the government of Japan.
Available in: Edible Green Regular & Edible Green Decaffeinated.
Edible Green Regular - This convenient little airtight can holds both the green tea powder and a measuring spoon. Only 1/4 tsp of concentrated powder is needed per cup, and the tin holds enough to make 40 cups of tea.
Edible Green Decaffeinated - A water-method decaffeinated version, packaged in a cylinder containing 30 handy single-serving envelopes.
Other interesting details:
Made of the highest grade SENCHA green tea powder imported from Japan, Sencha is considered to be the highest in antioxidant catechins among all green teas. Catechins are the most prominent of all antioxidants and the reason that Green Tea has been at the center of much scientific attention.
Studies show ‘catechins’, the most powerful antioxidants in Green Tea:
- Fight cancer-causing free radicals
- Boost the immune system
- Fight viruses and bacteria
- Help prevent high blood pressure
- Lower cholesterol & blood sugar
- Calm inflammatory diseases
- Increase metabolism
- Slow the aging process
What about caffeine?
For those pregnant or nursing moms, as well as others concerned about caffeine content, we recommend the decaffeinated version of Edible Green. Please see related information and our comparison chart below:

- The caffeine in an 8 oz drink of regular Edible Green tea is the same as in one bar of milk chocolate (1.55oz), which also has about 9 mg of caffeine.
- Edible Green contains L-theanine – a relaxant, so instead of caffeine jitters it provides you with both alertness and relaxation at the same time, supplying you with steady energy.
- Water processed decaffeinated Edible Green is available for those who shouldn’t have caffeine for various reasons. Although the antioxidant power in decaf is decreased to about one third of that in regular Edible Green, the flavor is still as good and comforting as the regular version. And you’ll still obtain more antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals than if drinking brewed tea. The caffeine in Edible Green Decaffeinated is guaranteed lower than one percent of regular Edible Green.
Note: The powerful antioxidants in Edible Green, like all beneficial substances, should be used in moderation and as part of a balanced diet.
