Nikky Diaper Covers
The Original Pin-Free Diaper Covers are the practical, dependable alternative to plastic pants.
Our company's beginnings were based on offering parents Nikky diaper covers, which we personally used and loved. Since those early days we've added many more wonderful brands and product choices that have come available for cloth diapering, yet Nikky still remains our favorite premium diaper cover choice when considering healthy and breathable diaper cover options.
Nikky quality has been known for over 70 years: superior fabrics, triple-stitching for strength, and double-layered construction for durability. This brand has a long track record of high quality, good fit, and great performance. We offer five different Nikky styles: Three are breathable covers (Nikky Wool, Nikky All Cotton Waterproof, & Nikky Breathable Poly) -- best for sensitive skin and allowing lots of air circulation to prevent diaper rash, and two other NIkky diaper cover options (Nikky Cotton w/Liner & Nikky Heavy Duty Poly) that are slightly less breathable but provide more wetness protection for extended periods of time, like for naps, night time, or for heavier wetters.
- Comfort
Nikky's breathable diaper covers (Wool, All Cotton, & Breathable Poly) let fresh air in to keep baby’s bottom dry. Skin temperature stays regulated and comfortable - prevents diaper rash, and no rough edges to chafe or pinch.
- Convenience
Adjustable Velcro closures allow for a quick, custom fit every time. No awkward pins or fasteners needed so diaper changing is safe and simple. Great for little sibling helpers, loved by dads and sitters, too!
- Nikky Care
Machine wash on warm/gentle cycle. Machine dry on low temperature (air-dry the wool). Use mild detergent or soap. Avoid bleaches, borax, softeners, additives, and strong detergents that contain them. We've personally had good experience with the 'Ecover Natural Delicate Wash' product, and Eucalan Wool Wash is recommended to use at least occasionally for the Wool Nikkys to refresh the natural lanolin. For longer wear of all covers, it's best to air-dry whenever possible.
- How Many Nikkys?
Four diaper covers is the bare minimum per size, per day. Six to eight is convenient. You may want a couple in the next size up for double-diapering and to grow into. For budget concerns or just for variety, you may want to supplement your Nikky stock with some of the other fine diaper covers we now offer.
- The problem of using plastic pants or non-breathable covers exclusively:
These fabrics may be waterproof, but they also trap wetness (and ammonia) next to baby's skin. Non-breathable plastics and synthetics create a hot, sticky paradise for bacteria, so the healhier choice is to use a breathable diaper cover at least some of the time. Babies prone to diaper rash or with very sensitive skin benefit most from regular use of breathable diaper covers.
How to use Nikkys
- Lay a diaper in the Nikky; For a Prefold or square diaper, fold in thirds to fit; If shaped or contoured, simply lay it inside.
- Place your baby on the diaper and Nikky and bring the front panel up to the waist.
- Folds sides in around baby and fasten Velcro for a snug, custom fit that holds the diaper in place. Perfect!
(Note: Make sure the diaper is completely tucked inside to prevent leaks or moisture from wicking out onto clothing.)

Note: Change the Nikky as soon as dampness is apparent, remove and air out the cover and diaper your baby again using a fresh Nikky. Rotate the covers so you can re-use the same one 3-5 times before it needs laundering.
Sizes
Our sizing is approximate for the 'average' baby. Please modify your size choice for a very lean or chubby baby. Proper fit is important to prevent leaks. Be careful not to order too big! Most newborns wear NB size for 4-8 weeks. All NB styles are modified for cord healing. Babies over 8 1/2 lbs. can often start with size Small.
